Q: Do I need previous franchise experience to run an
 Abbott's Frozen Custard Franchise?

It is always helpful to have some business ownership experience but it is not essential to owning your own franchise. We are here to support your business every step of the way, from the initial architectural planning, lease hold improvements, training and advertising, through your grand opening and beyond. We even travel to your location for a full 5-7 days on-site intensive to fully train you and/or your store

Q: Can a store be purchased as an investment without me being the full-time manager?

Yes, but it will be important to hire a qualified manager to operate your store. We encourage our franchisees to be involved in the business as much as possible as the more engaged in the business a franchisee is, the more successful the store will be.

Q: What is the size of a typical store?

We believe a location of about 1,000 square feet is ideal.
 Anywhere from 900 -1200 is also very good.


Q: Are there any restrictions regarding Abbott’s Frozen Custard franchise locations?


Because all of our ingredients are shipped from our warehouses in Rochester, New York,
 we limit our franchise area to the eastern seaboard of the United States from Maine to Florida.

Q: What is my total investment to open an Abbott’s Frozen Custard store?

Q: What is the franchise fee and what does the franchise fee cover?

The franchise fee is $35,000. This fee secures the right to own and operate an Abbott’s Frozen Custard in a given location, as well as the right to use the Abbott’s Frozen Custard trade name, trademark, recipes, decor, and manner of doing business. It also includes site approval and assistance with lease negotiations, architectural layout and construction. Most importantly, it includes 5-7 days of on site training at your location, where we teach you everything you need to know to operate and manage an Abbott’s Frozen Custard store. Our trained personnel will help you open your store and offer you continued field supervision, public relations assistance, and an advertising program before and after your store is opened.

Q: How much cash will I need?

This depends upon your overall financial situation and your relationship with your bank.
 Generally, you will need at least 30 to 40 percent of the total investment.

YES! We have a wide assortment of delicious frozen custard offerings in addition to our more traditional frozen custard treats. We have sundaes, banana splits, shakes, floats, custard turtles, nutty dips, flurries, cakes and pies for every occasion and pints to take home!
